VH Ballater Pipe Band Ceilidh & Prize Giving
6th October 2018
Drawing present playing membership of forty or more from a broad area around Mid and Upper Deeside, the Ballater & District Pipe Band dates from its inception in October 1993.

Historically, the forerunner of the present Pipes & Drums was the Ballater Branch Air Training Corps pipe band of the 1950's and early 1060's, funded and equipped by the late Lady McRobert, in memory of whom the band parades in Ancient Hunting Robertson tartan for kilts and plaids.

Invitations to appear include playing for the late Queen Mother, Birkhall, all the notable Highland Games over the North-East of Scotland, culminating with the Royal Braemar Highland Games, at which it has twice been awarded the challenge trophy for "Best Band of the Day" and travelling overseas to play in Canada and Germany.

The Ballater & District Pipe Band is a big, strong body of great presence, possessing an impressive repertoire and experience to fulfil engagements to the highest possible level. It holds Registered Charity Status.

Pipe Major Ian Smith MBE and Drum Major Ian Esson.
